The Silence in the Reeds
This page is about a quest: a story you play, step by step.
The reed cutters at the river mouth have fallen silent, and something under the old mound strikes in the dark.

Walkthrough Show spoilers
- Talk to Tobiah the elder, in the square by the market.
- Follow the shore road east past the last houses to the reed cutters' camp.
- Look at the marks Yair has drawn in the ash, and let him show you what they mean.
- Find the old carved stone the flood carried down, north of the camp, and read it with It is written.
- Go back to Yair and pray for him in the name of Jesus Christ.
- Ask Tobiah the elder, in the square, to help you make ready.
- Go back to Yair at the camp. He will show you the way down.
If progress seems stuck Show spoilers
- You need Faith level 20 and A Cord of Three Strands complete before Tobiah tells you about the reed cutters. Speak Words against the spirits in the cave or the High Place to raise your Faith.
- The reed cutters’ camp is at the east end of the shore road, past the last houses, under the old mound the flood cut open. Yair sits by the cold fire there.
- The carved stone lies a little north of the camp. Stand before it and choose to read it with It is written.
- Tobiah’s rehearsal in the square: when he lifts the red cloth, hold The shield of faith with 4; when he lifts the grey cloth, hold Resist the devil with 2. Hold the right one before he claps: choose it in the Words tab, or press its button in the rehearsal. 5 right out of 6 is enough, and you may try again as often as you like.
- When the quest is done, the old gateway in the side of the mound, by the waymark at the road’s end, takes you down under the mound to the river and The Buried Gate, the first raid. It is better done with a party.
