Places
The High Place
This page is about a place in The Way.
A public dungeon with three paths, shared enemies and puzzles.
Finding the entrance

Head north from the village market and climb the hill to the old ring of stones. The entrance is cut into the rock at the top. Interact with the gate to go inside.
When you finish Out of the Darkness, the Game tab says the High Place is open to you and a banner offers Walk there. It is then listed in the Map tab, its badge pulses on the mini map and the big map until your first visit, and a gold mark hangs over the gate. Right click the gate and choose Enter The High Place.
The forecourt divides into three routes: the Terraces to the east, the Flooded Cistern to the north and the Altar to the west.
How it works
The High Place is public within a Capernaum. Joining or leaving a party does not create a separate set of monsters. Travellers inside the same public run see the same encounter.
Choose a path, participate in its fights and complete its objectives. Watching another group finish is not enough to claim a completion reward.
To qualify for a public path’s completion reward, deal at least 10 damage in total across at least two different spirits in that run. The path must also be complete. Party membership alone does not qualify you.
Faith XP is awarded per accepted hit. A public run does not add the old Faith completion bonus on top. Eligible completions still award dungeon tokens and applicable Righteousness rewards.
Paths
- The Terraces
- Fast. Waves of lesser spirits on the stepped terraces, then a spirit of pride behind a dark shield that breaks under three Words.
- The Flooded Cistern
- Dark water and a captive pilgrim to set free. Spirits put out your lights, so stay together. At the bottom a spirit of despair whose darts drain Peace fast.
- The Altar
- The idols themselves. Topple them in the right order while you rebuke their spirits, then sing praise to open the sealed door.
Cosmetics
Spend earned tokens on robes and woven borders. These are cosmetic choices, not purchased skill levels. The first run of a UTC day grants 10 extra tokens, and every run won earns its completion reward.
After a completed public encounter, its state resets for a fresh run following the shared reset period.
This guide describes game mechanics. Skill names and levels describe a character’s progress, not a person’s spiritual standing.
